Chronic respiratory diseases (CRDs) are a group of conditions that affect the airways and other structures of the lungs, causing persistent breathing difficulties. These diseases can significantly impact a person's quality of life and are among the leading causes of disability worldwide. Some common types of CRDs include chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, bronchiectasis, and interstitial lung diseases. Causes: Tobacco Smoke : Exposure to tobacco smoke is the primary cause of CRDs, particularly COPD. Both active smoking and passive exposure to secondhand smoke can lead to respiratory issues.
